Longing to wipe the slate clean and move on with his life, the invisible, down-to-earth professional audience member, Eddie Krumble, travels from one studio to another with his best friend, Chris, to make a living cheering for products on countless infomercial shows.

Having learned to content himself with his anonymity, when he doesn't put his hands together for dubious merchandise or ask softball questions, Eddie is looking for excuses to visit his secret crush, Judy: a mousy cashier at a small gas station on Melrose Avenue.

Then, Eddie catches the eye of the famous late-night talk show host, Jayme Stillerman, and just like that, anonymous Krumble becomes an overnight sensation.

But, sometimes, love prefers to be quiet, and fame can be so loud and exhausting. Can there be a future between the clapper and the gas-station girl?

Written by Nick Riganas. This movie will not change your life and it's not looking to do that. It seems like a relatively low budget indie film that has some heart and the balls to be a little different.

Even at a time of year when movie companies typically unload their dross, the sheer awfulness of Dito Montiel's "The Clapper" stands out.

Jeannette Catsoulis. Mostly it's a quiet salute to classic romantic comedy - and to a star who, frankly, is far nicer than the times he was born to work in.

Stephen Whitty. The Clapper is a comedy that doesn't totally know what it wants to be, a commentary on fame and class or a romantic comedy. What we end up with is something that never really does both well and ends up hampering each theme.

Julian Lytle. The Clapper is not a film for everyone. It is a small film that has some charm as a sweet oddball rom com but which falls short in exploring its characters.

Cate Marquis. There's not much to applaud in this misguided offbeat comedy that fails to generate sufficient humor or poignancy from a broad satirical target.

Todd Jorgenson. The thin premise lacks any compelling elements, is absent of any engaging characters, and eventually goes nowhere.

Louisa Moore. An exercise in patience that rewards viewers with a tacked-on ending that simply reinforces the fact that this is a film filled with squandered talent and sloppy storytelling.
