Truth be told I have been looking forward to when Steven Conrad would really bloom and I think he has. He wrote "The Weather Man", what seems like ages ago and I was among a minority who loved it.
Unfortunately, the movie I think was advertised wrongly and sank I never saw the trailer and loved it. So much so that a blu-ray version is not out yet with some extra content which was in the trailer but never in the movie.
Very criminally underrated in my opinion, not just as a movie but also as one of the best performances of both Michael Caine and Nicholas Cage oh Nic Cage, please return to form!!
Anyways back to Patriot, the less that I tell you the better it is I think. Its a black comedy with its own sense of weird and absurd humor more in the vein of Wes Anderson.
Another way to look at this show is an exposition of Murphy's Law in espionage. God I want to say more but can't for the fear of ruining it.
The other thing I will complement is the music and cinematography You will know better what I am talking about when you see the show.
Michael Dorman, I don't even know who you are but I am a die hard fan now. And lastly, Amazon, please keep this series going, it will make you proud one day!

He is instructed to make it onto the travel team and deliver a bag of money in Luxembourg to help influence the election. To secure a position on the travel team, John shoves competitor Steven Tchoo in front of a truck.
Arriving in Luxembourg, John's bag of money is stolen by airport worker Edgar Barros. On his way to get it back, John stabs a curious Dennis in the leg to deter him.
Barros' brothers attack him when he tries to get the bag, but he escapes with it by stabbing one to death. John ends up giving the money to the wrong person after receiving a threatening note.
Back in Milwaukee, John's father, Tom, informs him that he needs to return to Luxembourg to intercept the bag from being transferred to the anti-Israel candidate.
John is told that an Iranian physicist's wife is coming to pick up the money. McMillan security guard Jack Birdbath revealed he heard John getting urine from Dennis and threatens to expose his treachery.
Homicide detective Agathe Albans is investigating the Barros' brothers death in tandem with Dennis' stabbing and Edward's "mugging.
Birdbath, an ex-cop who was fired for shooting a child, wants John to place a box inside his evidence file at the local police station.
He informs John that the building is guarded by officers with various hindrances, such as a man with one leg and a man with PTSD.
John steals the officer's prosthetic leg and the other's therapy dog, easily infiltrating the building. John's boss, Leslie Claret, is fed up with John parking in his company spot and threatens to fire him if he does it again.
While John drives to work, Leslie waits to see if he parks in his spot. Before John can make it to the parking lot, he almost hits Agathe, revealing she has made it to America.
She locks eyes with him. Earlier, Agathe rummaged through hotel trash and found paper with Barros' address on it, using that and the fact that his and Dennis' knife wounds match, is able to got to America.
In the present, just before John parks in Leslie's spot, he seems to come to himself and moves. John fails an important meeting with the Denon corporation, to the ire of Leslie, who removes him from the travel team.
While Agathe interviews Dennis, John takes his place at the company duck hunt and ends up getting paired with division leader Lawrence La Croix. He drunkenly confesses to John that he can never hit any ducks and is attracted to an employee.
John shoots down a couple of ducks and lets Lawrence say he shot them in an attempt to impress the employee. In return, John is allowed to remain on the team.
John tells Dennis he needs him to smuggle money through the airport on the next trip. John turns out to have kept the therapy dog he stole, but he is chastised by a waitress at the bar near the company, being told that therapy dogs are incredibly important to their owners.
John considers keeping him, but ultimately decides to let him go home. Leslie increases John's workload, looking for an excuse to fire him.
Edward is interviewed about his "mugging" and Agathe finds him suspicious. She sends one of her colleagues to tail him.
Dennis smuggles the money into Luxembourg through a travel pillow. John captures Edgar Barros from the airport, binds him with tape, and shoves him into his hiking backpack.
He plans to hand Barros off to Edward, but Edward realizes he is being tailed and tells John he cannot take the bag. John has plans to steal back the money from Mikham Candahar, the man he gave the money to, but he misses the time when Mikham is out of his hotel room.
John tracks Mikham down, but Mikham gets the jump on him and throws John down multiple flights of stairs with Barros still in the bag on his back before escaping.
John searches his room and steals the room safe. John is forced to abort his plans to confront the Barros brothers and meet the Denon team for drinks.
As he walks to the meeting he is supposed to attend, both Edward and Dennis catch up to him and take Barros off his hands. John makes his meeting just in time and improvises a piping speech, which he manages to pull off.
John receives a note from Agathe for a request for interview. Realizing that he cannot ignore her any longer, John begins tailing her.
Edward and Dennis open the safe by throwing it out a window. Inside, they find a passport for a Japanese woman, a drifter named Numi who has been seen collecting random junk around town.
As John continues to follow Agathe, he stops and collapses from exhaustion. In a flashback, John meets folk singer Rob Saperstein and writes music with him under a different last name.
After pulling John up and thinking nothing of it, Agathe goes on with her day until she notices that John is on the cover of the album Saperstein handed to her, who is now in Luxembourg and is peddling his music.
John breaks into Agathe's house but she is out, but her daughter, Myna, encounters him. Using Dennis as a translator, John exchanges Edgar for a peace treaty.
Tom, who has been sent by John's wife Alice, turns up to help instruct him. The physicist's wife gets a call that the bag has been lost and that she must stay until it is given to her.
John learns that the woman, Numi, is a sex worker, and instructs Dennis to hire her to figure out where she goes, as she has stolen the bag from Mikham.
John tracks Mikham down and garrotes him to death with the strings from his guitar, throwing his body into a river. John goes to a local show with Saperstein and performs one of their songs with him, but trails off and resorts to improvisation before leaving.
Wandering through the streets alone, John sees the bag lying on the ground. John realizes the bag is empty just as the police pick it up and arrest Numi for stealing.
Dennis believes he has an STD after his night with the sex workers. Distraught, he wants to tell his wife everything.
Tom tells John that he has to prevent him from doing so, and John manages to convince him to not. As John waits to be interviewed, he sneaks through the police office in an attempt to get the bag back.
Myna, who is at take-your-child-to-work day with Agathe, sees him again. John is spotted and is unable to get the bag.
During Leslie's interview, he tells Agathe that John did not attend a company dinner the night of the stabbing, putting him within the time frame of the murder.
Before Agathe can interview him, John flees the station. Michael Trim. John, increasingly unstable, calls the owner of Charlie, the therapy dog he stole.
John tells Alice through a pre recorded song that he has been recklessly riding his bike in and out of traffic, as he no longer cares whether he lives or dies.
As John continues to waste away time in the office while Steven Tchoo, having been rehired and heading towards recovery, outperforms him.
Leslie demands Laurence fire John, who tells him he will after the next duck hunt. As Agathe prepares to return to Milwaukee, Alice books a flight there as well to see John, unknowingly setting seats right next to each other.
Steven tells John that he smells like "the last smell that I smelled", and John realizes that Steven could link him to his injury.
John is informed that Agathe is coming to interview him the next day, and Tom intends to pull him out of his job soon. John sneaks into Leslie's office and steals a copy of The Structural Dynamics of Flow, a book Leslie wrote and puts his name in it.
He needs to send it to Edward so he can fake an alibi, by Edward putting it in the Luxembourg library. Birdbath tells John that he wants John to kill him the next day at work with his nightstick.
He reveals what John put in his evidence locker was evidence that he was drunk when he was a cop, and he shot a child. His colleagues got him off, and the guilt he feels has lead him to arrange his death to collect insurance money for the kid's family.
As their flight is forced to land early, Alice offers to give Agathe a ride to Milwaukee, neither of them knowing the other's relation to John.
With McMillan close to bankruptcy, Laurence appoints Leslie as the new boss. After putting John through a simple test of drawing a circle, which he fails to do, Leslie tells him he will be fired after the duck hunt.
As John follows Birdbath to kill him, he gets cut off by Dennis. Realizing Agathe is following him, he aborts his mission and slips Dennis the baton.
Agathe catches up to John and they play rochambeau over whether they interview today or the next day. John loses and agrees to interview later.
John receives a song from Saperstein that states he is going to end his life and says goodbye to him. John goes to his interview with Agathe and tells her he's not really an industrial engineer.
In his interview, John convinces Agathe that he merely faked part of his credentials and convinces her of his innocence. To validate his alibi, John write Barros' address with his left hand, so his handwriting differentiates from Agathe's sample and Edward manages to get a copy of The Structural Dynamics of Flow into the library in time with John's name in it.
Tom shows up at Alice's motel and tells her to leave. Before she does, Alice grows suspicious of Agathe and investigates her room, finding John as a suspect for murder.
At the duck hunt, Tom tags along and tells John to take care of his loose ends, saying he will take care of Leslie.
Steven remembers that John is the one who pushed him, and John threatens him. Despite both Tom and John's efforts, Leslie is set on firing him.
Tom suggest John pull a "Dick Cheney"—shoot Leslie in the face. After convincing Birdbath not to talk and meeting Icabod's demands, John non-fatally shoots Leslie in the face.
Back in Milwaukee, Tom tells John he has to kill the physicist's wife.
