Pretty simple premise, they start hanging out in school and when they realize they lost their tickets they go on a trip to try to get tickets in Detroit.
When I was a kid, I was not allowed to listen to rock music until I was around 12 years old. The only exception to this rule was I had a cousin and uncle that were big Kiss fans, and when I was visiting them they would play Kiss.
As a result that band will forever hold a special place in my history. That said, I totally relate to the kids in this movie, especially Jam.
It's a coming of age movie for those of us that didn't grow up in the cliques of popularity, the misfits that shunned the mainstream.
Also, it's hilarious. Eddy Furlong's strip tease is probably the highlight of the film. For me this flick is a rock cult classic.
I love this movie. Every actor and actress are purely enjoyable to watch and see their character development unfold right before your eyes.
It's a wild and crazy ride. The energy and chemistry each cast memeber expresses amongst each other is just perfect.. Of course having Kiss as the main reward is an A-list movie on its own but the script itself is just tons of fun.
To this day, I love how they captured the essence and passion it felt to go to a concert you have been dying to see.
This is one of the greatest "road trip" movies ever! The whole movie is great from beginning to end.
Two of my favorite parts are That disco thing, if you are not familiar with the band KISS, did indeed release a "disco" album called Dynasty, which is one of their best albums by the way.
The crap these guys go through just to go see KISS for the first time, after missing their last three concerts, is what makes this movie great. I wouldn't be surprised if stuff like that actually happened to real KISS fans back in the late 70's.
This story of four stoner friends off to Detroit to see one of the greatest bands of all time is possibly one of the best movies I have ever seen.
What makes it even better is Kiss is actually in the movie not just poorly dressed actors lipsyncing the words.
Each friend gets their own separate adventure and it brings them all together in the end. There is lots of laughs, love, high school related drama, and some very interesting scenes involving mothers!
I do not recommend this movie for anyone under 13 based on the drugs, sex, and cursing. But besides all that this is an epic movie to watch and the music is absolutely rockstar amazing!
I watched this movie a long time ago in high school and it has always been one of my favorites. I bought it on Amazon and the movie still lives up watching it again over 10 years later.

I was wrong! This film is brilliant! All four of the main actors involved were brilliant as Hawk, Jam, Lex and Trip that I found myself absorbed in the movie and feeling that each and every one of them deserved a ticket.
Even Lin Shaye as Jam's psychotic-yet hilarious-mother stole every scene she was in. It also analyzes reviews to verify trustworthiness.

I honestly didn't know what to expect when I walked into the theater back in , but I was very pleasantly surprised.
I never saw that film so I cannot say. Plus, I really don't care. Sorry folks, I'm not going to grumble about what a film "almost is" or what other movie "it's a lot like" or whatever.
I'm taking DRC at face value for exactly what it is, and what it is is one hell of a lot of fun. This is likely director Adam Rifkin's best film.
The cinematography is really terrific; filled with all kinds of energetic camera moves, pans and crazy angles that give the movie a throwback 70's sitcom visual style perfect for the period in which it is set.
The production design goes hand-in-hand with the cinematic style. And speaking of the sounds Every song is perfectly chosen and accents the on-screen antics flawlessly.
Well done! And lastly I wanted to mention that for a raunchy road trip film with crass language and sex-driven jokes this movie is surprisingly sweet and has a big heart, too.
But please note, this film is still very much an R-rated flick and is therefor most definitely NOT appropriate for little kids.
There are a TON of F-bombs throughout the movie, some brief female nudity, drug pot use, and even a bit of bloody violence as well, so please keep this away from the young ones.
This high-def release from Warner video is a solid value. No artifacting or pixelation, even in the numerous low light and nighttime scenes.
The soundmix is strong and consistent. The playback level is even; quiet scenes are balanced nicely with the rowdier sequences and music track. For better or worse, the extras are just ported over from from the DVD release.
Still, most of the bonus features are pretty good and combined they are as long or longer than the feature film itself, which makes this a real bargain, especially for movie buffs, trivia lovers and KISS fanatics.
